Redrawn [Waygood]
7-30 July 2005
Waygood Gallery, Newcastle - UK
Over a four-week period I was present within the space over extended
periods in order to make the work. For each of the visits to the space
I travelled to Newcastle in order to complete an action determined from
the previous visit, resulting in a series of alterations to the surface
of the space. Working through periods when the space was open to the
public (11:00-17:00) and when it was closed (17:00-11:00), the live
action was to varying degrees visible to a passing audience. Upon completing
each decided action, the resulting work was left in the space between
visits.
The first visit to the space involved a collaboration with Dan Williamson.
As I defined areas of the space to then be filled in with paint, sanded
off, and moved to another location in the space; Dan removed sections
of this process at specifically timed intervals, using CCTV cameras
positioned within the space to live-edit a document of the process.
The predetermined edit resulted in a document of exactly 2 hours that
filled the duration of the preview event with a time lapse replay of
recently completed action.
